Granite, Marble maintenance Ceramic maintenance Quartz maintenance

Stone countertops do not require much daily maintenance. However, to ensure that your stone countertop has the longest possible lifespan, it is a good idea to know and follow some simple instructions for maintenance and use.

- Clean the stone countertop from stains immediately after the stain has appeared, do not let the dirt absorb into or dry on the stone surface. Be extra careful with juice, coffee, oil, grease or red wine (alcohol) stains and with stains from acidic fruits. Wipe such stains immediately with a paper towel and wash clean with neutral detergent diluted in water.
- Avoid scratching the stone surface, never hammer directly on the stone, but use a cutting board. The most sensitive areas for a stone countertop are the front and back edges by the sink and hob, avoid putting too much pressure on these areas. Use a heating mat, even though granite is a heat-resistant material, you can damage the polished surface of the stone. Composite stone (quartz) is not heat-resistant, so using a heating mat is a must.

Maintaining granite countertops
Granite countertops are durable and require little maintenance. Neutral (pH 7), slightly acidic (pH 4 - 6) or slightly alkaline (pH 8 - 10) cleaning agents are suitable for cleaning granite countertops. Do not use abrasive or highly acidic cleaning agents or cleaning agents containing bleach. For daily cleaning, use a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaning agent. To reduce absorption, we recommend impregnating lighter granite surfaces with a special impregnating agent for granite, annually or every two years.

Maintenance of composite stone (quartz) worktops
Composite stone is an almost maintenance-free material indoors. For cleaning granite worktops, neutral (pH 7), slightly acidic (pH 4 – 6) or slightly alkaline (pH 8 – 10) cleaning agents are suitable. For daily cleaning, use a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaning agent. Composite stone is not a completely heat-resistant material, so we recommend using heating pads under hot objects to avoid damaging the surface.
On Starlight composite stone worktops, hot objects must not be placed directly on the worktop, even for a short time.

Maintaining marble countertops
For daily cleaning, we recommend water and a microfiber cloth. Acidic cleaning agents should not be used to clean marble. Do not use abrasive or acidic cleaning agents or cleaning agents containing bleach! If cleaning with water does not help, we recommend using a neutral pH cleaning agent or a marble cleaner. We also recommend impregnating marble countertops annually or every two years, depending on use, to reduce absorption.
